Women produce half of world’s food and accountable for two-third of world working hour. However, they represent most of the world’s poor population as they make just 10% world’s income. Furthermore, research has shown that it is girls and women that bears the burden of poverty especially in world poorest communities. Therefore, empowering girls and women has been termed a critical strategy to reducing global poverty and achieving sustainable development goals.

The Oyenike Areogun Women Empowerment foundation was established in 2012 through the inspiration of Reverend Oyenike Areogun. This is linked to her strong passion for all round empowerment of less priviledge, vulnerable, disadvantaged and unemployed women and the desire to see women living healthier life and contributing to the development of their society.

OUR MISSION
TOAWEF PROGRAM

Awareness program on topics and subjects that threatens women empowerment and subject them to poverty Advocacy for evidenced-based policies and practices that enhances the survival of women and has potential to lift them out of poverty To uncover and tackle social, economic and health barriers to women empowerment To give another chance at life to women that are unemployed as a reason of missing their opportunity to be trained in a vocation due to their mistakes such as pregnancy while in school or unforeseen tragedy such as the loss of parents/guardians or due to persecution from parents/guardian because of their Christian faith. To give financial assistance or vocational and moral training to such women that will equip them with useful skills for gainful employment and to become responsible God fearing member of the society.
